Sermon Series | Longing For God

Christmas is a time when we long for home and family.  We long for the nostalgia of classic Christmas movies or a beautiful wintery painting.  We travel long distances and welcome friends and family into our homes.  We decorate our houses with greenery and lights and anticipate huge holiday meals around the dining room table.  We long for good relationships with family and friends and memorable conversations by the fire.  However, all too often our longings are not satisfied by our experience.  Family relationships grow strained and food is overcooked.  Gifts that we re intended to bless end up disappointing, and Christmas gets dashed on the rocks of unmet desires.  Centuries ago, the prophet Isaiah voiced the unmet longings of an entire nation and how their longings one day would be fulfilled in a Savior.  I hope you’ll join us this Christmas in our journey with Isaiah, where you will have the chance to see how when Isaiah answers Israel’s longings, he answers yours as well.
